A lot of happenings at the office lately, most shocking was the "defection" of about half of our executive team last week. That makes it about 3/4 of the executive team that has left the company since I started. The "defection" last week was somewhat unexpected, but where they went was not. Our former CEO who left the company just prior to me starting has just started a new insurance company. His non-compete clause ended in November.
I don't blame any of the people who left because I completely understand their motivation. Our company has become far more bureaucratic over the last year as we have become more integrated with our parent company. Also, the opportunity to work with our old CEO, who was quite a character, and at a start-up would be exciting for anyone. In total, we lost the following people in the last 2 years: CFO, COO, head actuary, chief tech. officer, head of HR, head of claims department, head of credit department, head of captive group (2 people actually!), my old boss, and a number of other non-management people.
