NYC's Da City: A Jersey St. Patty's Day (Part III)

Getting back to Dani's place aroun 4:30, I passed out for a couple of hours, only to be woken by her cat pouncing from the couch onto my feet. The cat just keept pouncing, digging its claws into my feet. I was either too nice or too tired to kick it though.

At about 9 AM, Vero called me to wake me. I had to be at her place by 10 AM because we were going to Hoboken to celebrate St. Patrick's day. Though it was two weeks early, I guess that's what they do in Hoboken; they even have a parade, but I would soon find out that it's just another way to squeeze some extra money from patrons.

I made my way to Vero's via the subway (I can now adeptly ride the subway, something, until recently, I sadly couldn't do without getting lost.) Both Vero and I were calling Kerel, trying to find him. He was suppossed to crash at Vero's the night before, but after I left him at Max Fish, I hadn't hear from him and he wasn't answering his phone.

Having given up on contacting Kerel, Vero and I caught the PATH to Hoboken. When we got there, it was about 11 AM and there were already long lines to every bar. It was pretty insane: lines out the door, even out of hole-in-the-wall bars (the one Anna had taken me to over the summer was packed), and cover being charged too! Vero and I finally decided to wait out the line at Whiskey Bar, but it was really windy out. So I did what any smart person would; I went to the corner liquor store and got us some nips of Jameson to sip on. This made the wait in line bearable except Vero and I were sandwiched between two groups of girls that we dubbed as "bronzers" because their fake tans were atrocious. They were drunk and obnoxious and worse of all, the tall one kept spitting on me when she talked.

We finally got in and the rest is kind of a blur. Because the bar was so busy, Vero and I were double-fisting at all time. Arnaub eventually met up with us and then eventually Kerel. After a good 4 hours of drinking, Arnaub convinced me to get on the PATH and head over to Jersey City to see Trent and Dennis.

Trent and Dennis' place in Jersey City, though far from the city, is pretty nice. A penthouse apartment with access to a roof that overlooks Jersey City (which kind of resembles the Minneapolis skyline.) We stayed there, tried out Trent's new business venture, the Hobo-Hooka, and also passed out for a little. Margo swung by, after a little cajoling, on her way back from Ikea to pick us up and drive us back to the city.

Arnaub, Margo, and I then went back to Manhattan, Iggy's to be specific. We had some beers there and Arnaub eventually headed back to Jersey City while Margo and I stayed and waited for Korey to find us. Many more beers later, Margo and Korety convinced me to head back to Williamsburg to crash instead of trekking uptown to Vero's.
