Thank God for Nyquil
With the lack of sleep the last couple of days and being around a lot of sick people over Thanksgiving, I was feeling especially run down yesterday. My co-workers often hear about how I didn’t get a lot of sleep the night before and a common solution that has come up is seeking some type of sleep aid like sleeping pills. I’ve, for the most part, stayed away from doing that partially because of the potential addictive nature of sleeping pills, but mostly because my insomnia hasn’t reached the breaking point. The closest I’ve come to using a sleep aid is taking a Valerian root pill every now and then. The effectiveness of Valerian root on my sleep has been pretty variable so it hasn’t become a part of my daily regimen. But last night, I took some Nyquil. While I know this is not some great or unusual thing to do, it resulted in some of the ebst sleep I’ve had in a long time. I was passed out by 10:30 and slept pretty much uninterrupted until 8 this morning. To top it off, I awoke to a clear blue and sunny sky. All that’s left is to get through the rest of today (which includes an office holiday party; not sure if that’s good or bad.) Then all that is left is to take a CPCU exam tomorrow and then its off too sunny (hopefully) California for 4 days.
