been gone for a minute, but now i'm independent...

Currently Listening To:

Portishead- "Dummy" Album
Kanye West- Various tracks from his forthcoming CD "Late Registration" due soon (getting very excited for this)...in particular, banging "Drive Slow ft. Paul Wall and GLC" and "Touch The Sky ft. Lupe Fiasco"
The Rosebuds- "Blue Bird"
Disco D- "Hug It Out Bitch Techno Remix" (this samples dialogue, mostly Jeremy Piven aka Ari, from HBO's Entourage which I'm ridiculously obsessed with right now)
Danger Doom- Crosshairs (track from upcoming Danger Mouse and MF Doom collaboration)

Anyways, I'm trying to really expand my musical tastes so I've been making random mixes every couple days from my ever-amassing music library to listen to while I drive back and forth from work. Definitely love driving every day with new music banging. Weather is still nice enough to keep the windows down, sunroof up on my car and just race across the highways. But like I said, I'm trying to expand my musical tastes, so I'm going to try to keep posting my current listenings, if only to force myself to continue to listen to new music. Hopefully I can also share some of the new stuff with whoever reads this and if you want any of the stuff I list, just send me an e-mail and I'll get it to you.

On the note of expanding my musical tastes, I'm also trying to expand my musical repertoire. Trying to get back to playing music and maybe even back to composing. I composed a couple songs a couple years back and did some remixes as well. Someday I'll get the courage and post them. But in terms of playing, I've picked up the guitar once or twice since I've been in CT. I really need to do it more often and get back to practicing. Also trying to find a place to practice piano. Looking at some local music schools to see if I can rent out a practice room or something. Otherwise, I might buy a keyboard, but that will probably have to wait until September. I spent a little too much money this month, especially in New York for my birthday, so I'm kind of trying to save a little. Budgeting has been the death of me. It's not like I never budgeted, but I'm not used to paying so many bills and sometimes I forget and misplace things. Anyways, I think now after having a full month of bills come through, I've figured out all the bills to expect so things should be better next month.

Now in terms of work, things are going pretty well. I passed my first test. I basically need to take a number of certification tests throughout the year. I only have to take four by next spring, and my next one is scheduled for a week from Friday, so I'm almost half way there, but I think I'll actually try to finish all 8 tests that are available. If I do that, I get some certification from a professional society (which I could care less about especially since I don't think I'll be doing insurance in 5 years), but I do get a little bonus for very little test I pass so I might as well rack up those dollars cause I got a lot of spending to do.

On that note, I thought I'd start a making a list of things I'm fiending for/saving towards and if any of these items piques your interest, then feel free to donate money to the "Help Make Eric (More Of) A Bitch To Consumerism (PayPal accepted).

Eric's List Of Selfish Wants:
New suit (even though I just bought 2, I have my eye on this one that I really need to save for...maybe Christmas?)
Satellite radio for my car
Food processor
Keyboard
New dress shoes (actually will need these for work)
New sneakers (definitely don't need these work or any more for that matter, but...)
New computer (actually just need to fix the new desktop I bought in July that got fried)

Actually, that's not too bad of a list. Pretty practical and definitely doable by Christmas. But I guess if I added the list of CDs/DVDs I wanted, the list would be enormous. Even though I still download a lot, I still like getting a full album and there's also a lot of obscure stuff that I'm trying to find that just isn't as accessible on the Internet.

Ok, its getting late so I'm going to call it quits for the night. But hit up my comments or shoot me an e-mail. It gets lonely in CT!!!
