Poetry. If you don't like it, then you don't know what it is. The national poetry slam is in Minneapolis right now. Most of you probably don't know that. Most of you probably don't know what differentiates poetry from slam poetry. And that is my fault. Poetry and writing are such large parts of my life and not to share them with people around me and let them understand that aspect of my life restricts them from facets of myself. Maybe its because I have let poetry escape too many times. It wasn't till today that I wrote a poem that I was proud of in a long time. It was the first time in a while that I read to a public because I wanted to. I may have let poetry go away for a while, but it can't escape me because it is in my blood. When I say I want community, hell, I want a community of poets around me. I want to sit like I did today in random bars all day long, listening to nothing but poetry, cheering people, my peers, on. So if you are around Minneapolis, go to the damn poetry slam. Three days left. And if you are somewhere else, ask me for something to read or listen too. Peace and goodnight.
