Running With The Big Boys
I ran a half-marathon today. It wasn't an official race, just a long run so I wasn't necessarily going for speed, just more for endurance and pace training. Overall, I was pretty happy with the results. I finished in 2:05:43 and had an average pace of 9:35. However, that's a far ways away from where I want to be; I need to cut 25 seconds off my pace. Is that possible?
The best part of today's run was that they were holding the Knickerbocker 60K in Central Park today. It is a very low key affair with a smaller number of people running. Nothing like the NYC Marathon two weekends ago. But just thinking about how long 60K is...that's like 1.5 marathons! I felt so demoralized as I ran by these guys. My legs were so sore from the half-marathon, I couldn't imagine what it felt like for these guys running 60K, but they just kept running, slow and steady.

Everything is possible. At 24, there's always room for improvement. Just keep up and add more endurance and mileage to your training. Start low like 4-5 milers then graedually go for the big ones (halves, marathons and min-ultras)
I was running the 60K too! Good luck buddy!
Thanks for the support. Unfortunately, I've been traveling a lot lately and sick so my training has been staggered at best. I'm hoping to get back on track this week and ramp it up so I'm in a good position for my Marathon at the end of January.
